Microsoft Edge 92.0 Stable is now available

With the release of Windows 10 M (meaning it is not available to every Windows 10 user), Microsoft has finally released a version of Edge that runs perfectly with it, and we are excited to announce that it is now available for all Windows 10 users.

Microsoft Edge, the company’s new platform for reading the web, today received its first update in the 9.x series. The latest version, 92.0, addresses a pair of minor issues that were brought to our attention. The release notes are posted below.

Edge is now available as an update to Windows 10. Since its launch last year, Edge has become one of the most used web browsers, allowing the users to access a large number of features and capabilities while browsing. Some of these features include Cortana integration, which allows you to access Cortana from Edge, reading articles in Microsoft Edge with Adobe Digital Editions, allowing you to read books from your PC, playing games from the Windows Store, and much more.. Microsoft has released the stable version of Microsoft Edge 92.0, which includes a number of new features and enhancements. In reality, users using pre-builds from the Beta, Dev, and Canary channels must already be aware of all the changes. Here’s a rundown of what’s new in this version.

What’s new about version 92.0 of Microsoft Edge?

First and foremost, Edge 92 now has a new password manager. It will alert you if a password is weak or has been disclosed online. Edge 92 may also be used as a system password manager on cellphones. It will allow you to log in to apps and websites using the information kept in your browser.

Edge 92 now offers the option to save screenshots of web pages to Collections automatically, which will come in handy while browsing for material for work or school projects. Additionally, on the new tab page, you may now rate news using emoticons.

Other information

Microsoft also revealed a new shopping and back-to-school center powered by Bing that brings together related products and services, in addition to the new browser. As you prepare for the new school year, it will help you save time and money.

Finally, the company announced a Microsoft Edge Outlook extension. In a pop-up window, you can rapidly check your email. It’s not necessary to open a new tab and go to the Outlook website.

Microsoft is gradually rolling out the update to all Microsoft Edge customers who use Chromium. The web browser should install updates in the background, but you can force it to check for updates by going to Settings and then to About Microsoft Edge.

Edge 92 has a number of new features.

  • On the address bar, perform a natural language search for browser history. Natural language search right from the address bar has made it easier to find the article or website you’re looking for. In addition to titles/URL keyword matches alone, you can discover search results based on page content/description/timing (such as “cake recipe from last week”). Please keep in mind that this is a Managed Feature Rollout. Please check back soon if you don’t see this feature yet as we continue to push it out.
  • On Microsoft Edge, users may quickly switch to Internet Explorer mode. Users can reload a site in Internet Explorer mode on Microsoft Edge instead of using the standalone IE 11 application while waiting for a site to be configured in the Enterprise Mode Site List starting with Microsoft Edge version 92. Users will be prompted to add the site to their local site list, which will force Microsoft Edge to render the identical page in Internet Explorer mode for the following 30 days. You can configure this experience by using the InternetExplorerIntegrationReloadInIEModeAllowed policy, which allows access to the IE mode entry points as well as the ability to add sites to the local site list. You can alter the number of days to maintain sites on the local site list using the InternetExplorerIntegrationLocalSiteListExpirationDays policy. For the end-to-end experience, you’ll need KB5003698 or later for Windows 10, version 1909; or KB5003690 or later for Windows 10, version 2004, Windows 10, version 20H2, or Windows 10, version 21H1.
  • MHTML files will open in Internet Explorer mode by default. MHTML file formats will open in Internet Explorer mode on Microsoft Edge instead of the Internet Explorer (IE11) application starting with Microsoft Edge version 92 Stable. When trying to view Outlook emails in a browser, this is the most usual occurrence. Only if IE11 is set as the default handler for this file type will this change take place. If you wish, you may modify this before installing the Stable version 92 update by following the instructions here.
  • Instruments of payment are now synchronized across devices. You may synchronize your payment information across all of your signed-in devices starting with Microsoft Edge version 92. Please keep in mind that this is a Managed Feature Rollout. Please check back soon if you don’t see this feature yet as we continue to push it out.
  • The warning “Disable developer mode extensions” can be turned off permanently. You can disable the warning “Disable developer mode extensions” starting with Microsoft Edge version 92 by selecting the ‘Don’t show this again’ option. Please keep in mind that this is a Managed Feature Rollout. Please check back soon if you don’t see this feature yet as we continue to push it out.
  • Right from the toolbar, you can manage your extensions. You can simply hide/pin extensions using the new extensions option on the toolbar. The quick links to manage extensions and locate new extensions make it simple to find new extensions and manage the ones you already have. Please keep in mind that this is a Managed Feature Rollout. Please check back soon if you don’t see this feature yet as we continue to push it out.
  • HTTPS is enabled by default. On URLs that are expected to support HTTPS, users will have the option to upgrade their navigation from HTTP to HTTPS. For all domains, this functionality can be configured to attempt delivery over HTTPS. Please note that we are testing this feature, and if you have opted out of experiments, you will not experience this behavior.
  • Font rendering has been improved. The display of text has been improved to improve clarity and eliminate blurriness. Please keep in mind that this is a Managed Feature Rollout. Please check back soon if you don’t see this feature yet as we continue to push it out.
