It’s been a while since I’ve been here at NaturalNews (about two years), but I should tell you I have made a decision to return. I have been staying away for a while, but the final straw was when I came across a website called NaturalNews.tv.
As a huge fan of the incredibly popular game, Swords of Legends, I was excited to see that the game had a free-to-play option. I signed up, and my first impression is that I greatly enjoy it.
Swords of Legends Online is an action MMORPG with an Eastern aesthetic, and I was lucky enough to get a beta key in June to try out the game. Will this game live up to the hype?
This post was sponsored by Gameforge. However, all opinions are mine!
Swords of Legends Online – is an action MMORPG set in an exciting fantasy world, with complex combat mechanics and a unique storyline based on Chinese mythology. I was able to spend some time with the game, and I’ll be honest, they weren’t kidding with the suspense part. It’s like looking at a moving painting. When I first saw this game, I thought it would be another generic MMO and gave up. It wasn’t until Gameforge offered me the chance to try the game that I decided to give it a shot, and frankly I’m glad I did. More or less, I’ll explain later.
The combat is pretty close and offers two ways to play – TAB or Action. I haven’t played much on TAB, mostly with the action option, and it’s solid. If you’ve played games like Guild Wars 2, you know this mechanism. The battles were fun, although I noticed that it took longer to kill enemies of the same level as you. And I refuse to blame it on my ability, so don’t worry.
Joking aside, I don’t know if it was because I didn’t know how to use my character (I was playing as SPELLSWORD) or because the enemies got harder, but it was just something I noticed during my play time. Speaking of classes, the game gives you six of them, and none of them are gender-specific, which is pretty amazing. I say this because EAST MMOs have a habit of tying classes to gender, but at least you don’t have to worry about that.
I haven’t had a chance to play as another class yet, I’ve mostly been using SPELLSWORD, which honestly fits my playstyle well. It combines sword and magic, so I have both melee and distance abilities. I just loved the way this class played. Fast and powerful. I guess I should talk about integration since I talk so much about my character. This is one aspect of the game that I didn’t like at all, and that’s obviously up to you. That’s also why I didn’t want to play this game in the first place.
Since this game is made in China, the customization option is great if you have a light skin tone (Asian), but terrible if you want to make a character with a dark skin tone, basically any non-Asian. And don’t even get me started on the hair options. To be clear, I know this game was created and inspired by Eastern culture and mythology, but I was hoping the fantasy aspect would negate that and allow you to make whatever you want, but no. I mean, it’s an MMO, so it shouldn’t be that big of a deal to do a LAC, but hey. So yeah, personally I try to avoid games with this kind of problem, but honestly it’s not something I would deduct points for. It’s just a nuisance for now.
Speaking of negativity, let’s talk about another thing I didn’t like: the HUD. This is also my personal problem with the game, the HUD was completely confusing to me in games. I didn’t like it and I hope you can review it in the full version. Other than that, I enjoyed the game for what it was. The maunts in the game were my favorite part, they looked so cool and even cooler to use flying at high speed across the map, which by the way is huge.
Now let’s get to the game modes. Swords of Legends Online offers PvE, PvP, raids and dungeons, with PvP being the core of the game, which is why I play this MMO the most. The game now offers you various PvP events, such as. B. An open world PvP called Rampage and a limited time event PvP. Admittedly, I’m not a fan of PvP with timing. A little careless with people who may not be available to attend these events. The open world PvP looks nice, but I haven’t made it to the level yet to try it, but from what I’ve seen, you have to activate it to attack other players who also have Rampage activated.
I can already tell that the character series will dominate the game. In PvE the structure is pretty MMO get standard quest, and there classes shine well, but in PvP certain classes dominate the battlefield. I hope it’s balanced, because if not, it won’t be fun in the long run.
Overall, Swords of Legends Online is a very fun game, I just hope the final game is as good as the base game.
